As the sun rises on Sunday, July 13, Windsor will not only celebrate its rich history but also step into a promising future with the opening of a state-of-the-art event space at City Hall Square. The $15.4-million project, begun in July 2024, is set to transform how the city convenes and celebrates.

The revamped space is designed to be as dynamic and versatile as the city itself. In the chill of winter, residents will glide across the ice rink, while the warmer months will host roller skating and floor hockey games. The City invites everyone to partake in the festivities, beginning at 11 a.m., with a lineup of activities sure to entertain all ages. As stated by Stephanie Marshall, Coordinator of Special Events, “There’s live entertainment all day long with contributions from the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Windsor International Film Festival, and Art Windsor-Essex.”
For those with an appetite, the celebration offers free birthday cupcakes and hot dogs among a feast of entertainment, including a Children’s Art Show and recreational demonstrations.
Accessibility and Comfort
The City ensures easy access with free parking just south of City Hall at McDougall and Wyandotte Street East. “Folks can park there for free, and come on in and join us,” shares Marshall, highlighting the convenience for all attendees.
In a harmonious gesture, Museum Windsor’s Chimczuk Museum and Art Windsor-Essex are opening their doors gratis from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering yet another layer of cultural enrichment.
