SpaceX Breaks Its Annual Launch Record with Starlink Mission
SpaceX successfully conducted its 32nd Falcon 9 mission of 2022, officially breaking its record for orbital launches conducted in a single year and sending 46 more Starlink satellites into space. Since it's still only July, the company will launch even more missions by the end of the year.
SpaceX set its previous record in 2021: it made 31 launches, which made it the most prolific space corporation and launch provider in the US. In early 2022, the space company set an incredibly ambitious goal of launching 52 missions within a year, and so far, it has been sticking to its plan.
The Falcon 9 rocket launched from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The company uses these flights to create a Starlink constellation, sending batches of Internet satellites into orbit. The company currently has more than 2,000 functioning Starlink satellites in orbit.
