Growing up in North Sacramento, NJ understood the challenges young musicians face. “I was about 13 years old…hard to get my craft out there,” he recalls. His life experiences fueled his desire to build a studio where creativity could flourish irrespective of financial barriers. Unspoken Studios isn’t just about music; it’s a vibrant ecosystem aimed at holistic artistic development. “I want to offer them a place to record and be creative,” NJ highlights. In his quest, NJ found support in Chad Orcutt, a small business owner with a shared vision. Operating from Community Shop Class in Oak Park, Orcutt’s neighborhood learning center is a hub for innovation. It boasts spaces like a podcast studio, a community café, and even a bike shop—each venue echoing the mission to empower creativity.

NJ, a Grant High School alumnus, reiterates the importance of community support. “I wanted to make music, but there wasn’t a lot of resources around me,” he says. With studio time and music videos often financially out of reach, NJ aims to provide affordable pathways for artists, ensuring the local talent is nurtured and visible.
