Organized by the Council’s tourism team, this familiarization visit aimed to showcase the area’s outstanding food and drink offerings, vital to attracting global travelers.

The day started at the much-anticipated Dunluce Lodge in Portrush, a luxurious 5-star resort currently sparking conversations within the community. There, delegates enjoyed exclusive tours and luxury introductions setting the stage for a memorable experience.

A pivotal part of the tour was Bushmills Visitor Information Center’s “Meet the Makers” event. Here, tourism leaders engaged with award-winning food producers, enjoying samples of delectable local creations, showcasing a rich tapestry of regional tastes.

Delight continued with a visit to Bushmills Courthouse, now rejuvenated as a Shared Space & Creative Hub. The group watched rehearsed bread-making with Trudy Brolly from the Courthouse Bistro, tantalizing taste buds with fresh, artisanal flavors.
Sampling Artisan Cheeses and Drinks
Bushmills’ Maegden offered its finest artisan products, luring representatives with its uniquely crafted cheeses. Drinks from the distinguished Dunluce Distillery and Basalt Rock followed, rounding a sumptuous morning.
Ethical and Sustainable Farming at Broughgammon Farm
Continuing this theme of sustainability, the group explored Broughgammon Farm. Pioneers Charlie and Becky Cole shared their trail-blazing journey in ethical farming, immersing visitors in visions of flourishing sustainability.
Culinary Education at Ursa Minor Bakery School
Ballycastle’s Ursa Minor Bakery School, a haven of creative baking, welcomed the tour. Founders Ciara and Dara Ohartghaile shared the wild creativity of their venture, with attendees savoring demo tastes along the way.
Closing at Ballykenver Farm Shop
At Ballykenver Farm Shop, Amanda Hanna wrapped the day with engaging insights into their farm-to-table approach. Small-batch delights like curds and award-winning puddings gave a sweet finale to the day-long culinary expedition.
