NASA Administrator Says Humanity Can Land on Mars by 2040
NASA believes that the goal of landing humans on Mars can be achieved by 2040. The agency is working on various technological advancements and mission plans to make this ambitious objective a reality.
NASA's head, Bill Nelson, has stated that the development of a Martian program is already underway, but reaching the planet will be much more challenging than reaching the Moon.
In an interview with El Mundo, Nelson said that it takes three to four days to reach the Moon, but Mars is much farther. According to Nelson, the journey to Mars should take seven to eight months.
Also, after landing on the planet, astronauts will need to spend a couple more years on Mars until the alignment of the planets allows for a return trip lasting between six to eight months.
