Da Nang Emerges as Vietnam's Premier Tourist Hub Post-Mergence

The recent administrative merger of Da Nang city with Quang Nam province has brought a wave of new prospects shaping the city into a burgeoning tourist hub in Vietnam. This strategic consolidation unites the contemporary allure of Da Nang with the cultural depth of Quang Nam, enriching the tourism landscape in ways unimaginable before. As described in Vietnam+ (VietnamPlus), this amalgamation is not just about administrative efficiency but a robust platform for regional growth within the tourism sector.

A Blossoming Tourism Ecosystem

The unification officially materialized on July 1, 2025, opening up fresh socio-economic development opportunities. Known for its dynamic infrastructure, Da Nang was already a tourism powerhouse featuring international airports, luxury resorts, and entertainment hubs like Sun World and Ba Na Hills. In contrast, Quang Nam boasted the historical charm of Hoi An and My Son—UNESCO World Heritage Sites—alongside its eco-tourism offerings. Combined, these elements create a diverse resource base where modern luxury meets historical intrigue.

Da Nang’s Enhanced Tourist Experience

The merged region now enjoys a diversified tourist offering. Whether it’s enjoying the sun-kissed beaches of My Khe or diving into the rich history of the My Son Sanctuary, the new Da Nang offers something for everyone. The integration means not just a scale expansion but a qualitative uplift, with over 2,200 accommodation facilities providing nearly 65,000 rooms, including around 27,500 premium rooms.

Economic and Social Rejuvenation

Tourism contributes robustly to Da Nang’s economy. In July alone, accommodation and catering services amassed revenues exceeding 5 trillion VND, an impressive 19% spike from the previous year. International and domestic visitors flocked in millions, affirming Da Nang’s appeal. This surge in tourism is expected to bolster economic restructuring, attract further investments and elevate social standards through job creation and enhanced communal facilities.

Looking Towards a Promising Future

Da Nang’s aim is to secure a spot as a high-quality tourism and service hub by 2030 and one of Asia’s leading tourist destinations by 2045. Plans include investing in super-premium resorts, expanding international cruise terminals, and developing large-scale entertainment and conference complexes. The city is fostering solid regional linkages to create a professional tourism ecosystem that resonates globally.

Strategic Integration and International Outreach

Da Nang has made international outreach a priority, cultivating partnerships with airlines to enhance connectivity to faraway markets. The city has maintained direct flights to major hubs in Southeast and Northeast Asia and aims for more international routes to the US, Europe, and beyond.

This transformative phase for Da Nang promises a flourishing future, positioning it not just as a keystone in Vietnam’s tourism map but, potentially, as a central destination on a global scale.
