NASA Unveils New Sonifications of Images from Its Chandra X-ray Observatory

NASA has once again transformed the universe into music, bringing the cosmos closer to us in a form we can hear. Through the collaborative efforts of the Chandra X-ray Observatory and other space telescopes, NASA has created sonifications of three celestial objects: the supernova remnant MSH 11-52, the spiral galaxy M74, and the Jellyfish Nebula (IC 443).

The supernova remnant MSH 11-52 features energized particles that are now audible in a stunning auditory display. The spiral galaxy M74, akin to our Milky Way, and the Jellyfish Nebula, bring the beauty of the universe to our ears through a combination of data from Chandra, James Webb, Hubble, and other telescopes.

Accompanying these auditory marvels is the premiere of Listen to the Universe, a documentary available on NASA's streaming platform, NASA+. The film delves into the sonification process and introduces the dedicated team behind these celestial compositions.
